[Old Skool R&B] Bill Withers – Use Me

Bill Withers >>

I’m not a big R&B fan a lot of these new R&B acts don’t really do it for me and they clearly have nothing on the old school R&B. If I’m really going to be listening to R&B this is what I’m listening to, some Bill Withers, Otis Redding, Al Green etc… None of these new R&B kids are close to their level. Well that’s just my opinion.

  1. Yeah, the new artists have crazy riffs and trills, but most of them don’t have that “down in the gut” soul that the older artists have (although, I could make a case for Usher and Anthony Hamilton). Anyway, Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder are my all-time favorites.

Still, you can never go wrong with Bill Withers…nice pick. 🙂

  2. Hey you’re right in that respect to R&B not being not what it use to be today. You know with the advancement of technology it’s truly change the game. Then of course all the mainstream artist likes the old saying “keep up with the jones”
As a radio station owner, I find balance in programing. And from the feedback we receive from listeners 18 to 24 about the old school music we play is very positive, they love it.
